Amotherm Concrete WB

Single-component water-based paint for fire-protection of reinforced concrete structures

An intumescent fire-proofing system for fire-protection of reinforced and pre-stressed reinforced concrete elements. Its action limits heat spreading to the inner reinforcement creating a protective barrier against fire without altering the look of the element and without adding weight to the geometry of the structural element to which it is applied. Ideal for interior use.
Water based
Product information

Technical features

  • Once in place it looks like a normal water-based paint
  • It does not alter the aesthetics of the element
  • Easy to use
  • It does not add weight to the geometry of the structural element to which it is applied
  • For interior use
  • A very slight initial odour and odourless once dry

Specifically designed for fire-protection of reinforced and pre-stressed concrete structural and compartmentalising elements and floors in masonry-concrete mix.

Drying time

  • 6 – 12 hours at surface
  • 24 – 48 hours at depth

Depends on the element to be protected and the technical performance required

Supply and application of Amotherm Concrete WB water-based intumescent paint for protecting load-bearing structures in reinforced and prestressed reinforced concrete from fire.
The fire proofing treatment must be carried out by spraying, brushing, using a roller or with an airless pump, applied at any height, either vertically or horizontally and/or at any angle.

The preparation of the under-surface will vary depending on the type of surface to be treated. More specifically:
• New structures must be cleaned of any impurities and treated with Amotherm Concrete Primer WB.
• Existing structures with old paint must be thoroughly cleaned to eliminate any paint residues that are not perfectly bonded to the surface, and then treated with Amotherm Concrete Primer WB.

The quantity of intumescent paint to be applied to the various elements to be protected will depend on:

• the fire-resistance class required (R/REI)
• the section of each structural element and its type
• concrete cover values and type of reinforcement (ordinary and/or prestressed)
• actual load conditions
• the type of exposure to fire of each of the structural elements.
For indoor applications where there is damp and heavy condensation, we recommend applying Amotherm Brick Top WB acrylic topcoat.

Assessing the protective measures to be taken and determining the thickness to be applied must be carried out based on the contents of the evaluation reports prepared in accordance with the methods laid down in standard EN 13381-3.

Intumescent paint with environmental certification EPD according to ISO EN 14025 and EN UNI 15804 (environmental label type III) as required by Article 34 of the new Public Contracts Code defined by Legislative Decree No. 50 of 18-04-2016 and updated by Legislative Decree No. 56 dated 19-04-2017.

Guideline costs of materials and application (excluding scaffolding and any preparation of the surface):
• Amotherm Brick Primer WB: € 4,00/m2 (100 g/m2)
• Amotherm Concrete WB paint: € 15,00/m2 (for 500 micron DFT – 1kg/m2)
